GRANT ATKINS NOTCHES UP 300 ON FIELD NRL MATCHES
This weekend marked a special milestone for Association Life Member Grant Atkins as it saw him achieve his 300th on-field performance in the NRL.
Grant became a member of our Association in 1997 and went on to referee 2 A Grade Division 1 grand finals in 2004 and 2005. In 2007 he became NSWRLRA Graded Member 919 and made his NRL debut in 2009 as NRL number 103. Grant has progressed through the NRL ranks quite well, this year being named Standby Referee for all 3 State of Origin matches.
Grant is currently based in Queensland with fellow NRL squad members as they keep our game alive in such an uncertain time in Sydney and NSW.
Grant took to Instagram to write a heartfelt message to his two daughters Emilee and Lexi:
“Dear Emilee and Lexi, today Dad does his 300th game on field. I’m so sorry for every moment I have missed with you both in trying to chase my dreams. I miss you incredibly and do all of this for you both. I hope this teaches you that anything is possible and you should strive forward regardless of how difficult it may be. Dad wishes you could both be here and hopes that deep down somewhere you are proud of him because he damn well so proud of you both. You girls are my why. Love Dad.” Congratulations Grant, you are doing our Association proud. Grant was the referee for the Round 19 NRL clash between the Dragons vs Titans match today at CBUS Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.
