Cameron Turner Elected As 2023 Life Member
At the AGM Cameron was elected as the 2023 Life Member of the Penrith Referees Association. We congratulate Cameron on on his achievement which is thoroughly deserved. Cameron’s service to the Association can be read below:
Cameron joined the Penrith Referees Association at the beginning of 2006, giving him a total 17-years distinguished service.
In 2008, Cameron joined the Social Committee, and so began his service to his colleagues. He was a delegate to the NSWRLRA in 2017, and again from 2020 through 2021. He was also a member of our Merit Award Committee for those latter two years.
Over his tenure with the Association, Cameron has spent considerable time working to better others. This has been a feature of his meritorious service. He was a member of the Advisory Panel from 2011 through 2014, and again in 2018. He then became the Head of Referee Development in 2021 and continued in this role for 2022. What is most impressive about this, is the manner in which Cameron has continued to serve in one of the most demanding roles the Association has, while also pursuing his own active officiating career with considerable success. He was graded as NSWRLRA member number 1021 and continues to represent the Penrith Association with distinction in Grade fixtures.
Cameron has won some of the most prestigious awards the Association has on offer, some on multiple occasions. He received the Michael Grady Merit Award in 2008, the Phil Sanders Award in 2010, the Jack Harris Senior Merit Award in both 2012 and 2021, and the Bob Kandelas Referee’s Referee in 2013 and 2014. He also received the Frank Walsh Trophy from the NSWRLRA in 2018, as the referee of the SG Ball Grand Final that season.
Records indicate Cameron has attended 69.9% of Association meetings where attendance was documented between 2006 and 2021.
Cameron will be presented his Life Membership jacket at the 2023 Life Members & Presentation Evening.
