A week of milestones - Woods 400, Turner 100

As the NSWRL High Performance Squad heads into Round 7 of their competition, Penrith members John Woods and Cameron Turner embark on milestone matches within this squad.

This weekend Life Member John Woods will notch up 400 games in NSWRL Major Competitions. John has dedicated his life to officiating beginning his journey as a Penrith District Rugby League Referee. He pushed his was through the ranks and into the NSWRL High Performance Squad, formerly known as the NSWRLRA Graded Squad as Graded Member #942. His on field performance is nothing short of excellent, this can be reflected in his numerous Grand Final Appointments throughout his career:

  • NSW Cup 2014 & 2017,

  • Ron Massey Cup 2015, 2016 & 2018,

  • Sydney Shield 2019

Throughout John’s career he has not only been exemplar on the field, but also off the field and held numerous roles with in our Association. In 2015 he was bestowed with the highest honour of Life Membership of our Association. Congratulations John! Your longevity in the High Performance squad is a testament to your dedication to officiating.

Fellow Penrith Referee and current Director of Referee Development Cameron Turner also notches up a milestone this weekend, he will officiate his 100th NSWRL Major Competitions match. Cam became Graded member #1021 vin 2019. With COVID-19 heavily effecting the last couple of seasons, this is a huge achievement by Cam. Good luck and congratulations!
