Elite Return to Grassroots

This weekend members of the Penrith Referee's Association who have gone on to the elite level of officiating will head back to Penrith for what has become the annual 'Referee Development Day'. The day, which will take place on Saturday, 31 May 2014, will see those who have gone on to officiate at the top levels of rugby league return to grassroots junior football, where they are partnered up with a first year member to take the field in the local mini and modified competitions.

The Penrith Association has already recruited 23 new referees in 2014 and over the course of the development day these new members will be joined by current referees from the NRL, Holden Cup and NSW Cup competitions, all of whom started their officiating careers in the Penrith Junior League.
